Queens of Wellness

Nature’s way

Skincare is a subject that most of us are passionate about.

It’s not just about protecting our faces from lines or wrinkles. Gone are the days when we slapped products on without knowing or caring what was in them.

We care about ethics, about naturally derived products, free from parabens.

More and more of us want to educate ourselves about removing products from our lives that have toxic chemicals in them so the Queendom decided to go on the hunt for some for you from local consultants!

Sometimes it’s hard to know where to go to find the alternatives, so when Jen Henderson, Tropic Independent Ambassador, and Kerstin from Weleda got in touch to ask if I’d like to sample a few of their products, I jumped at the chance.

Tropic is the fastest growing beauty company in the UK and is multi-award winning.

The produce a range of cruelty free, vegan skincare free from parabens, synthetic fragrances and toxic chemicals.

Jen made my weekend when she arrived armed with her pamper hamper full of Tropic goodies for me to try.

From face masks to bath products I was well and truly spoiled and I indulged in a home spa weekend!

I also shared the hamper products with my mum, sister and nephew’s girlfriend because there was so much inside I was afraid I wouldn’t get the chance to try everything!

I loved the fragrance of the Tahitian Vanilla and Coconut bath soak which made my bathroom smell like the tropics, coupled with the Body Smooth body scrub and Clear Skin face mask, my skin was left feeling soft, smooth and smelling fab!

For everyday skincare, the cleanse, tone moisturising combo of the Smoothing Cleanser, Vitamin Toner and Skin Feast made me look forward to my skincare routine again.

My sister and I both loved the smell and she’s right when she said they smell like products you’d find in an expensive spa.

Another product we all loved was the ceramic tipped Eye Work eye cream which was cooling and hydrating.

Out of the skin masks we tried, our overall favourite was the Deep Hydration one with its gorgeous, mousse-like texture.

It left my skin feeling plump and smooth, didn’t give my sister a skin reaction, as other masks have done, and was also love by my nephew’s girlfriend who has very young skin! Praise across the ages!

If I was to pick an absolute winner…my far and away favourite was the Walk on the Beach set for tired and achy feet. Inside is a Polishing Foot Pebble, Repairing Foot Remedy and Ocean Fizz Foot Soak. Glorious!

I loved how it left my feet feeling refreshed, cool and moisturised. It’s a wonderful gift for someone or even yourself. I ordered mine and have been using it all the time!

Although clean and ethical beauty may be in fashion now, for Weleda it’s been at the heart of its ethos since it was founded in 1921.

I knew a bit about some of their products but when Kerstin Fricke, Weleda Advisor for Fife, invited me along for a one to one skin consultation, I was excited to find out more about one of the founding fathers of clean beauty.

Weleda are experts in using plants like arnica, calendular and lavender, to name but a few, in their products.

Their sustainable and holistic approach to producing their products has resulted in many awards over the years and they only use natural products – no nasties!

If you need to see evidence of the effects Weleda products have on your skin, you should look no further than Kerstin – make up free and with clear, glowing skin she is a wonderful ambassador for Weleda.

After a chat about my skin type and other questions to determine my skin care needs, I was ready for my facial.

Kerstin recommended the Skin Food face product which Weleda hail as the “one thing you need to take with you to a desert island.”

Well, they’re not wrong! With extracts of gentle viola tricolour, calendula and chamomile in a rick base of oils and beeswax, Skin Food is amazing.

I often shy away from oils as I find them heavy on my skin and occasionally just too oily!

But Skin Food is totally different. I found it was absorbed easily in my skin and felt light and refreshing.

Coupled with a wonderful, natural aroma meant I was so relaxed I almost fell asleep!

Noticing my hands were also a bit dry, Kerstin opted to pop some Rose oil onto them and give me a quick hand massage too which I was very thankful for. The beautiful fragrance stayed for the rest of the afternoon and my hands felt and looked moisturised and cared for.

Let me tell you, you need to talk to Kerstin because after just one consultation my skin was brighter and glowing. So much so that several people commented on it!

I looked and felt amazing and it was enough to tempt me to browse Kerstin’s shop here for more Weleda products to add to my collection.
