It’s a gin thing!

Gin is in ladies, there’s no denying it. So the Queendom sent Sharron, Gin expert and blogger from @itsascottishginthing to a local gin event to write a review for us.

Here it is for you – it’s a hard life being part of the Queendom eh?!

It’s a gin thing

Unless you have been in hiding somewhere recently you cannot have escaped the fact that GIN IS IN big time.

Two years ago the owner of The Cupcake Coffee Box began gin tastings evening and these are a always sell out.

Mike, the owner, explained what made him decide to change his ice cream parlour by day into a gin parlour on a Saturday night.

He explained: “The idea was to create an evening where people could meet in a social environment allowing people to catch up without the noise of venues such as pubs.

Our coffee shop has always been seen as a social hub.”

For £20, you are welcomed to the bright and comfortable venue with a glass of fizz.

This is followed by a leisurely evening tasting four differing gins paired with their perfect garnish and mixer.

Each gin bottle is passed around the tables while you take time to savour a full measure and discuss your thoughts.

For me gin tastings are a great way to try new gins.

Mike likes to offer the chance to sample a range of gins.

He added: “I like to bring along gins that the majority of people might not have experienced and I like to mix and match them.”

With gin the devil is in the detail, the origins, the botanicals, the taste before and after the perfect mixer.

An excellent chance to get your gin geek on!

Your ticket also includes a cheeseboard plate to compliment your gins.

I would advise only eating a light meal before attending!

I challenge you to go and not leave with a smile and a warm fuzzy glow. If you’re a gin fan this event is highly recommended.

Sign yourself up for The Cupcake Cake Coffee Box newsletter and get booked in for their next gin tasting event. Be quick!
